As I have mentioned in an earlier post I am taking Experimental Methods II a class required for my Psychology major. In this class we are required to do a research project that we present at the Siouxland Undergraduate Social Sciences Research Conference. This is a very large part of our grade and is also a lot of work.
When I was spending a week with my brother in Arizona I thought it would be a good time to get my project started by doing a survey on why people travel South for the winter. When I arrived back in South Dakota I then surveyed people on why they stay North for the winter. This is only the beginning to my project but is something I have been working on a lot this past week.
I will keep you updated with how my project is going and the work I am putting into it in the next couple weeks before the conference. I better get back to studying for my test tomorrow! Until next time,
Carly

Easter Break Approaching
The week is flying by and I am looking forward to Easter Break. It will be a good time to get away from all the stress here at school. Most of my Easter Break however will probably be spent doing papers or homework along with trying to keep up with my track workouts.
Over break I am going to be working on two big projects. For Experimental Methods II I am doing a huge reseach project that I will "get" to present at a conference in April. I am doing my project on Snowbirds and Stayers. If you don't know what that means, while I was down in Arizona for Spring Break, I surveyed people on why they go South for the winter. So when I am back home for Easter I am going to survey people why they stay North for the winter. After I get all of my data I will compare and do different tests to make up a research project. I want to try to get a lot of it done so I don't have to stress the night before. The second project I am going to be working on is a paper for Introduction to Alcoholism. My topic is "Alcohol Prevention Among Teens" I thought this topic would be very intersting to research and find facts on since I have just lived the teenage years recently. I am sure a lot of it will shock me on how much alcohol is being consumed by teenagers now days but I feel it is a subject that needs to be addressed.
I am really looking forward to Thursday when I will be at home with some awesome home cooked meals. Until later.....

Lancer Track
Hey again! The weather is starting to get nice and that is awesome news to me. Outdoor track season has begun which means my life is starting to get busy with the end of the semester getting closer and closer.
This is about the time of the year where the due dates for every paper, project or large assignment are coming up. For me, I have a lot of papers due but hope to use my Easter break to get at least one of them done. I try to keep ahead as much as I can by organizing and keeping a planner. Since I have a track meet pretty much every weekend, I spend more time during the week to get my homework done.
Track is a sport that is very flexible and easy to work around your schedule. Since it is not a sport that you must practice with the whole team, as long as you get your workouts in everything runs pretty smooth. In track I run the 400 meter hurdles, sometimes an open event ranging from a 200-800 and then the 4x4 relay.
Our new outdoor track was just finished this last month making workouts a lot more fun. With a new facility, I think our track team will see a lot more results when the meets come around. We are really happy to have the new track and a place to practice.
That is all for now about track. I'll keep you posted with how track is going.

Spring Break Cont.
Spring break is winding down and I leave to come back to the cold South Dakota weather tomorrow. :( While visiting Arizona I had a chance to visit the University of Arizona campus and was very interested in what I noticed. The huge campus was the complete opposite of Mount Marty. It was never ending and everyone you passed didn't say hello like at Mount Marty. At our campus, everyone for the most part knows everyone and always passes you with a smile and or a hello. At the U of A campus I felt just like a single person, not like anyone even cared that I was walking on the same sidewalk as them. After walking around the campus, I knew that I had made the right decision to attend a smaller sized college. I feel Mount Marty is the right fit for me with the size, athletics, student and teacher relationships and the family away from home feel. I do not feel that I could get any of this at a very large campus where the size of one class is equal to our whole campus. I am glad I made my decision to attend Mount Marty College to obtain my bachelors degree. In the future for graduate school I have a larger college in mind just for the experience but I know that Mount Marty is the right place for me right now.

Spring Break
After a super hectic week last week it is finally Spring Break! This year for break I am going down South to Arizona to see my brother and his wife. I am very excited to get away from school and this cold weather. Even though I am away from school, the work never stops. I have a couple big projects I am going to work on so not everything piles up on me once I am back. But I am going to go outside and enjoy the nice weather!
